Further big decisions have been made by our government and were announced yesterday by our Taoiseach. It means more restrictions and an extension to the date of closure for our attractions, campsite and visitor Centre to April 19th 2020.
Again, we are hoping that these further restrictions will help stop the spread of the virus.
Nevertheless, we were heartened to hear that our beautiful park and trails could remain open to the public, so you can continue to enjoy your walk in the fresh air and stunning woodland surrounds.
However, this will only be permitted to continue, if we are all sensible and practice the correct ‘Physical Distancing’ of at least 2mtrs apart.
Our car park barrier will remain open and we have 400 parking spaces so we are encouraging you to please avail of all the car park bays available to you and park away from each other. Start the ‘Social Distancing’ from your car.
Again, we will keep you updated with news from us and we cannot wait to welcome you all back to us again.
Sending positive vibes to you all from us MIND YOURSELVES, LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER, and STAY SAFE and practice PHYSCAL DISTANCING.
Tough decisions have to be made but hopefully by making this decision now, it will lead to a safer and better future for us all.
The latest update from the Government and HSE has instructed Tourist Attractions to close so it is with regret that the visitor Centre, all activities, attractions and Café at Lough Key Forest and Activity Park will have to close its doors from today until March 29th.
The safety of our staff and customers is paramount to us and we do not want to place anybody in a situation where they could be exposed to the virus unnecessarily.
The decision to close is also our contribution to help stop the spread of Covid 19.
The good news is that our beautiful Park grounds will remain open as always to the public in general.
There are 350 hectares of stunning woodland and forest walks so we are encouraging you all to come out and enjoy the fresh air but please practice social distancing.
We will keep you updated with news from us and we cannot wait to welcome you all back to us again.
Sending vibes of positivity to you all from us MIND YOURSELVES, LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER, and STAY SAFE.
Run by volunteers, everyone welcome – walkers, joggers and runners. Arrive at 9.15 for the walk to the start line and join us afterwards for a coffee in the Lakeside Cafe. A mostly flat course with a few inclines but the scenery is so fabulous you wouldn’t even notice them!
It is free to participate! but please register before your first run. Only ever register with parkrun once. Don’t forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won’t get a time.

The list of finalists has been compiled after hundreds of nominations received over the past few months for the Irish Hospitality Awards 2019.
The Irish Hospitality Awards are back for the third year to celebrate those who provide residents and visitors with great experience and enhance the hospitality industry in Ireland.
The glamorous ceremony will be held at The Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport, on Monday, March 25, where top contenders will gather together to find out the lucky winners.
The third Irish Hospitality Awards aim to acknowledge those who make a real difference in this sector as well as the efforts that the professionals put to ensure their customers always receive services that are second to no-one.
The awards will also provide a platform to thank everyone who is committed to make the country a friendly place to visit, from restaurants that serve delicious dishes to bars and clubs that keep Ireland alive at nights, museums, shopping centres, as well as festivals that promote different cultures.
Lough Key Forest & Activity Park is one of the finalists in the category of ‘Tourist Attraction of the Year’. They will find out if they will be crowned winner and will take the trophy home at the elegant ceremony taking place in March.
Louise Fitzpatrick, General Manager says the company are honoured and delighted to be nominated for the awards. These awards are really special as the nominations come from the public themselves. So, a huge thank you to all our loyal customers who have voted for us. This has come as such a lovely surprise after our recent success in the ‘Irish Tourism Industry Awards’
A Spokesperson for the Irish Hospitality Awards 2019 said: “Working in the hospitality industry can be challenging at times and these awards aim to recognise those who have succeeded in this sector, despite the difficulties.
The finalists are people who have dedicated their whole career in making the country a great place for its lively atmosphere. It is time to recognise those professionals, whose work often remains over-shadowed.
We would like to congratulate all the finalists for their nomination and wish them the best of luck.”
