parkrun

Lough Key joins thousands of locations worldwide by providing the venue for a weekly parkrun.

Whatever your age or ability, you’re welcome to join in this regular 5k event. Walk, run or jog on Saturday mornings at 9.30am and enjoy some free and sociable exercise.

A team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers work tirelessly to make parkrun a highlight of many people’s weeks.

Seasonal Events

Whether it’s Easter, Halloween or Christmas, you can be sure we’ll be celebrating in style. Our fun seasonal events are the perfect way for families and kids to make the most of the time of year.

Hop along to meet the Easter Bunny, prepare to be scared at Lough SpooKey or sing some Christmas carols for Santa.

Fundraising Events

Our woodland landscapes and lake views provide a stunning backdrop for fundraising events. Many charities and organisations choose Lough Key as a convenient location for sponsored walks or runs.

Swimming Events

With McDermott’s Castle rising up from the water, Lough Key provides scenic swimming at its best. We regularly host open water events, co-ordinated by respected swimming organisations.

It’s always a pleasure to welcome the intrepid swimmers, And, of course, to help them warm up afterwards with some tasty hot drinks and snacks!

Lough SpooKey

Each Halloween you will be welcomed to ‘Lough SpooKey’ where our visitor centre is spooktacularly transformed and Ceilstein’s grove is lit up. Seasonal treats and entertainment will be scheduled for this frightful time. Halloween is the Lough Key ghouls favourite time of the year.
