The Present Day
Dermot Beggan – General Manager
‘Our aim is to provide you, our customer, with a visit that ranges from leisurely to high energy. We want you to enjoy all facilities on site and your visit and support is really appreciated.
Myself and the fantastic Lough Key team, a small but productive team with high ambitions operate the management company that runs the park. It is a joint venture between Roscommon County Council and Coillte but is not financially supported by the agencies. Therefore, your custom is extremely valued by us and enables our company to trade and reinvest in this uniquely beautiful park.
The car park fee is essential to us and solely goes towards the grass cutting, refuse collection, trail maintenance and outdoor park upgrades.
We employ local staff and as much as possible use local suppliers from food products to general supplies.
We will continually work to expand, improve and explore new avenues of service to benefit you, our visitor.
As we have successfully reached almost 17 years in operation, the company does not want to stand still, and sees more potential to the park, to build on the cohesive connections of our town of Boyle and the surrounding area.
We are currently developing a masterplan which will deliver plans to continue to sustain our company but more importantly to grow the offering for out visitors.
This new plan will embrace all the attributes of Irelands Hidden Heartlands. It will reconfigure the current spaces to allow us to accommodate more visitors, develop new attractions, café space, activity hubs, renovation of old buildings and natural assets.
All facets of the park are being analysed and by doing this research, it is to ensure the park is moving forward in the best strategic and sustainable way to ensure the viability of the company whilst protecting the beautiful environment we are the custodians of.’
